SeaCiety and All That Remains is a collaborative show of London based photographer Danilo Murru and Sculptor Naomi Doran – a celebration of many years of working together and, in parallel to one another.

Naomi and Danilo exhibit at the Original Gallery, N8 together for the very first time.

Danilo Murru exhibits Sea-ciety, an on-going project which aims to offer a close-up observation of nations in relation to their coastlines. More specifically, a parallel exploration of both the coastline in its own natural expression and the way in which society relates to it. These two elements are linked together by a common denominator utilised here as a tool of analysis- the tidal movement.

The tidal range can also be seen as a metaphor to deliver a message of the rising level of oceanic water and the effect of this on the coast throughout the globe.

Naomi Doran (and All That Remains), through a process of exploration and experimentation with industrial building materials, has developed a very strong style and language in her ‘process-based’ art. She takes her inspiration from the architectural and natural landscape surrounding her, such as derelict, decaying structures and the way in which the elemental forces of nature manipulate and transform their surfaces, colours and forms. By recreating this process she is able to discover and learn new ways of expression. Her pieces are a direct abstraction of nature and the built environment, ‘a 3D vocabulary of all that surrounds me.’

SeaCiety and All That Remains will be on show at the Original Gallery, N8 9JA from Thursday 31st March to Wednesday 20th April 2011. Join us on Wednesday 30th March 2011, 7 to 9pm for the exhibition’s private view.
